Yerba Maté (yer-bah mah-tay) is known to enhance vitality, focus, and well-being. It is the national drink of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay where it is more popular than coffee, chocolate, and tea combined. The finest Yerba Maté (translates as “gourd herb”) is shade-grown. The leaves and stems of the South American rainforest holly tree (Ilex paraguariensis) are harvested and blanched, dried, aged, cut and milled to create this bold delicious brew. Although maté is not from the tea plant, it does contain caffeine and said to bolster the metabolism and improve digestion. Traditionally consumed out of a maté gourd with a bombilla (specialty filtered straw), the maté gourd is often passed around to friends and family.
Loose leaf tea is sold by the ounce. If you want more than one ounce, simply increase the number.
